Steps
- 1
To begin with wash the banana stem well. Cut it into round pieces first to take out the threads thereof. Then chop them into tiny cubes and boil them with water by adding little salt and turmeric powder for 5-7 minutes or until done. Drain them to a colander.
- 2
Now assemble all the ingredients such as boiled banana stem, boiled potato, rice flour+corn flour, chopped onion, cumin powder, coriander powder, chilli powder and ginger garlic paste in a wide plate or bowl.
- 3
Then mash the potato with banana stem and mix it with other ingredients thoroughly together with a pinch of salt and chopped coriander leaves to make a tight paste.
- 4
Make 8-10 lemon sized balls out of the paste. Flatten them with the help of your palms and shape them into round tikkis.
- 5
Heat a non-stick frying pan and sprinkle oil all over. Gently place the tikkis and shallow fry them from both sides until golden brown and crisp.
- 6
Remove them to an absorbent paper to drain excess oil, if any.
- 7
Now ready is the delicious, crispy and crunchy banana stem tikki to be served hot with any kind of sauce or chutney.
