Heat oil in a pan and add punch phutana.

Once seeds crackle, add dry red chilli, green chilli, grated ginger and curry leaves.

Now add the chopped tomatoes, cover the lid and let it cook for 5 minutes or till tomatoes become soft.

Now add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, jeera powder, hing, salt and saute for 5 mins in low flame.

Add the grated coconut, dates, sugar and 1/2 cup water and stir well for 5 mins.

Switch off the flame and add the coriander leaves.

Tomato Khajur Khatta is ready.
