First of all, soak both lentils in water for 1 to 2 hours.

Now put the soaked lentils in the cooker, put a long one with it and you cut a tomato and put turmeric powder and salt in it and boil it for five to six whistles.

After the dal is boiled, let the cooker cool down and after that mix dal well.

Now put ghee in a small fry pan and add asafetida to it and temper the cumin seeds and add turmeric powder and red chilli powder and add the tempering to the dal.

Your plain dal is ready to serve with rice.
