A moorishly moist spiced cake that never lasts more than an hour in our house.

Lightly grease an ovenproof ring mould. Cream together the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl and beat in the eggs. In a separate bowl, mix the flour and spices, then fold into the creamed mixture.

Add the grated apple and apple juice and mix in to make a dropping consistency. Place into mould and bake for about 30 mins at 180c fan oven. Leave to cool for 10 mins before turning out.
