On a plate,place the fish pieces, sprinkle salt and turmeric powder and rub in well on both sides of the pieces.

Heat oil in a deep pan till it begins to smoke add the fish pieces and saute on high heat for 1 minute on each side and keep on a plate.

Add Kalonji and jeera to the oil remaining in the pan,add green chillies,mix and saute for few seconds.Add remaining turmeric powder and mustard paste.mix well and saute for 1 minute.

Add 1 cup of water and mix well.Add salt,mix and let the mixture boil for 2-3 minutes.Cook till the mixture thickens slightly.

Add the fish pieces,mix gently and cook for 5-6 minutes.Take the pan off.Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with slit green chillies and serve hot with steamed rice.
