Wash and soak chickpeas for 4-6hours. Make a potli of muslin/cotton cloth of described ingredients. Take chickpeas in a pressure cooker, add 2 cups water and add potli also.

Pressure cook on high flame for one whistle and cook for 5-7minutes on low flame. Let the pressure release itself.

Meanwhile, heat a pan. Add oil. Add ingredients of tempering. Add chopped onion and fry till pink.

Add ginger-garlic paste. Saute for 2 minutes. Add chopped tomato, add 1/2cup water and salt. Cover and cook on low flame for 4-5minutes.

In the meantime, dry roast all the ingredients for chole masala, and grind them to a fine powder. Keep aside.

After 4-5minutes, stir the gravy. Add all powdered spices including 2 tbsp of chole masala. Saute on a medium flame for 3-4minutes. If required add some water.

Add boiled chickpeas, add 1.5 cups of water. Add green chilies also. Cover and cook on a medium flame for 10-12minutes.

Adjust gravy consistency. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve with bhature/pooris/rice.
