Puff pastry pineapple flowers

This is one of the simplest desserts that anyone can make. Just 4 ingredients and you will have an impressive dessert or even snack that will simple wow everyone!
The pineapple slices are wrapped in puff pastry, topped with a maraschino cherry and baked into crispy puff pastry pockets. Serve dusted with powdered sugar spoil your loved ones at home with this simple but very pretty pastry.
The combination of pineapple with puff pastry, and the assembly method is very interesting. You make these pineapple flowers with fresh pineapple slices or canned. Just make sure the fresh one is sweet. This is why I preferred the canned ones.
It's important to cut a square for each slice of pineapple, about the same size as the diameter of the pineapple.
Serve these beauties for your iftar dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or as is.

Preheat the oven 350F.

Line a baking tray with baking paper.

Drain the pineapples in a colander and then let them dry on kitchen paper. (If using fresh pineapple, dry on kitchen paper).

Roll out the puff pastry and cut squares according to the number of pineapple rings/slices.

Place a pineapple slice over each square.

Make another cut around the corners of each square, without cutting the middle part.

Then lift up the outer corner towards the middle of the pineapple. Do the same with the opposite corner, bring it to the middle and glue the two corners together.

Repeat the procedure for the other corners. Stick them together well with your finger.

Place a cherry in the centre.

Brush the puff pastry pockets with beaten egg yolk.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes until golden

Remove and cool.

Dust with powdered sugar and serve.
