Cooking Instructions

Wash basil throughly and remove leaves from stems

Boil water with sea salt, add pasta of choice
- 3
At once, combine basil, oil, garlic, cheese, pistachios and seasonings in blender. (If pistachios are salted don’t add more salt) Blend til smooth

Transfer mixture into pan over low heat. Add in pasta when it is almost al dente, combine with pasta water to create a creamy consistency
- 5
Plate and top with fresh basil. Enjoy!

My friend Petra showed her purple basil and I was so intrigued. I actually never saw it before. I grew some and am now harvesting my first bit. I thought this would be fun and whimsical to change from the norm. I added a small amount of shallot and different cheeses to further have fun and flavor in a traditional recipe.
