Prepare all the ingredients for the sweet and sour soup. Marinate the catfish with fish sauce to let it absorb the flavor. See the link for more details.

Before boiling the water, add tomatoes and pineapple, then season to taste before adding the fish. After that, add taro stem, okra, and bean sprouts.

Marinate the catfish for the braised dish for 30 minutes before cooking. See the link for more details.

Once the seasoning is right and the braising liquid just covers the fish, transfer the fish to a clay pot and simmer on low heat. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon black pepper over the braised catfish.
