Colustrum also known as Junnu or Kharvas or to put it in simple words, it's nothing but the milk produced by the Cow in the initial days after it delivers. This thick Yellowish first Milk produced by the mammals including humans during late pregnancy and the first few days after birth. It is highly concentrated, nutrient dense and rich in antibodies and Protein that builds a newborn's immune system. It provides essential nutrition and protects against infections.
Produced only for the first 4-5 days after birth before transitioning into mature Milk, this is absolutely beneficial and super delicious. It is often distributed among relatives and friends after the calves drink to their full in order not to waste it and also to celebrate the arrival of the new member to their family. It is loved in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states and is referred to as Junnu paalu meaning Colustrum Milk. It is the custom and the tradition followed to date and is the most loved Dessert here.

Homemaker by choice and a passionate cook by heart. An aspiring cook who actually never knew anything about Cooking until i became a mother myself. With Motherhood came the responsibilities as well and this was the turning point in my life.I started to learn the ABC's of cooking, taking help from my mother and my MIL. And time just flew. I spread my wings higher and higher. With my love for excellence and innovation, i stepped into a world of homecooks with my exposure to Cookpad one fine day on the social media. And there was no looking back since then and i have not only shared recipes here on this wonderful platform but also have made some lovely friends as well. Today iam successful because of my hard work, dedication and loads of good wishes of my family and my kids in particular.
