Cooking Apples and Damson Plums Crumble
Got some fruit from the garden and figured this was a good way to use them.
Steps
- 1
Preheat oven to 190°C.
- 2
Wash fruit then, peel and slice the apples. Pit and halve the damson plums.
- 3
In a pan, melt 60g butter and Demerara sugar on low heat for about 5 minutes.
- 4
Add cinnamon, stir, then add the prepared apples and damson plums.
- 5
Stir regularly until the fruit is soft around 10mins.
- 6
Transfer the fruit mixture to a baking dish.
- 7
For the crumble, rub flour, caster sugar, and cold butter together until crumbly.
- 8
Sprinkle enough crumble over the fruit to cover. Freeze leftover crumble for another time.
- 9
Bake for 17 minutes until golden and bubbling.
Tips
Don’t over mix the crumble with your hands cause of the heat. Can change the damsons for blackberries but add them a little later once the apple has cooked more.
