Ingredients

  • 4 cupsflour (about 500 grams)
  • 1/2 cupsugar (about 100 grams)
  • 2 teaspoonsbaking powder (about 10 grams)
  • 1 teaspoonsalt (about 5 grams)
  • 4eggs
  • 1/2 cupwarm milk (about 100 ml)
  • 1/2 cupmargarine (about 100 grams)
  • 1 teaspoonground cinnamon (about 5 grams)
  • as neededoil for frying
  • as neededsugar
  • as neededground cinnamon

Steps

    Make a well in the center of the flour. Add sugar and salt around the edges and place the baking powder in the center. Add the eggs to the center and dissolve the sugar and salt. Add the milk and margarine, and start incorporating everything together. Knead until you get a smooth and elastic dough. Once ready, roll it out a bit and add the cinnamon. Let it rest for 30 minutes or until it doubles in size.

    Roll the dough into a rectangle and fold it in thirds like a letter. Roll it out again and fold it once more. Poke the dough and roll it out again to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes and place on a tray. Let them rest for 30 minutes until they double in size.

    Heat the oil to 330°F (165°C). Fry the donuts for 1.5 minutes on each side. Remove and place on paper towels. Mix the sugar with the cinnamon and coat the donuts. They can be decorated with donut glaze or sugar glaze with water or any essence.
