A very tasty, delicious sandwich... a little messy, but flavorful. I invite you to try it because you'll like it. Let me know what you think afterward!
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Sauté the vegetables and prepare the legumes. Bring the lentils to a boil in salted water and cook for 15-20 minutes or until tender. The beans should be boiled a couple of hours earlier or the day before. For the vegetables, heat a teaspoon of olive oil in a pan and sauté the onion, jalapeño, garlic, bell pepper, and carrots until the onion becomes translucent. At this point, add the sun-dried tomatoes and mushrooms, sauté for a couple of minutes, add a splash of white wine, and continue cooking until it evaporates.
- 2
Add flavor to the dish by adding the tablespoon of sriracha sauce, the two tablespoons of barbecue sauce, mix well, and cook for a couple of minutes to integrate all the flavors. Next, add the cup and a half of tomato, cayenne pepper flakes to taste, and a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, mix well, and finally, add the lentils and beans. Mix again and cook for a few minutes to blend all the flavors well. Turn off the heat.
- 3
Prepare the sandwiches by first toasting the bread, then put a sufficient amount of Sloppy on one part of the bread, cover it with the other, and the Sloppy Joe is ready to serve, enjoy, and devour! Enjoy your meal!

Vegan Sloppy Joes! Vegan Sloppy Joes!
When I moved into my first apartment, I remember making these for a bunch of friends and a neighbor I hadn't met yet knocked on my door. He just wanted to introduce himself and when I answered the door, I offered him a sloppy Joe. He ate it and had NO IDEA it wasn't meat. He was so surprised when I told him and eventually started to consider going vegan (I don't know if he ever actually did, but I can dream!!). This is such a good recipe and more healthy than most others since it has all the veggies in it. The Presumptous Pepita -
Homemade Sloppy Joe Homemade Sloppy Joe
I love sloppy Joes and have always just bought the sauce in a can. I saw a recipe on Chili Pepper Madness for making it from scratch and it turned out great. I always prefer my sloppy Joe over angel hair pasta, but it is traditionally served in a bun. fenway -
Homemade Sloppy Joe Homemade Sloppy Joe
The great classic taste but so much healthier than that can of manwhich that you see in the store. Not to mention very customizable. If you like it sweeter, add more brown sugar. If you want it a bit tangy, add a couple of tsp. of apple cider vinegar. Or add some hot sauce for a bit of spice. Christina -

Homemade Sloppy Joes Homemade Sloppy Joes
I have used this quick and easy recipe countless times. Its not the healthiest but its yummy and not from a can. I say all in moderation right? You can use ground turkey instead of beef and this can be served on rice, noodles, corn bread or mashed potatoes. Want it spicy? Add your favorite hot sauce. I rounded the sandwiches out by serving a healthy salad as the side. (Pinterest) Bridget -

Sloppy Joes Sloppy Joes
I had Sloppy Joes once when I was a kid, it was at my friend's house, and I wasn't into them. I remember it being really sweet, and gross. So, when I got the America's Test Kitchen cookbook a few years ago, I didn't even look at the recipe, but then I was curious as to what was actually in it. Upon reading the recipe, It seemed super simple and tasty....so I'm not sure what the problem was when I was a kid. Anyway, I tried the recipe with my family, and it's quick, super easy and delicious. It goes really well on the Soft Pretzel Buns. To keep the cooking to a minimum, serve it with a fresh garden salad. Champagne and yoga pants
