These chapati are soft and easy to make using minimal ingredients. A Kenyan friend of mine introduced me to chapati and lentils. It reminds me of dinner nights at her flat which I always looked forward to. I Serve them with lentils cooked with tomato and onion with coriander powder, garlic and garam masala. Enjoy

Ingredients

3-4 servings
  1. 500 gwhite bread flour (4cups)
  2. 250 mlwarm water
  3. 1/2 coil and 1tsp salt

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Sieve flour and salt into a bowl. Add water and oil and mix with wooden spoon until incorporated. Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for 10-15mins until it springs back when you poke it. Cover and let it rest for 10 more minutes after that.

  2. 2

Cut out 12-15 pieces from the dough and roll it into balls. Roll it out brush with oil and a light dusting of flour and roll it up to a sausage. Curl up the sausage shape as a bun and set aside to rest whilst you work on others. This step creates layers in your chapati but don’t worry if you cant do it.

  3. 3

Roll out your curled dough as flat as you can. Brush each with oil and layer in a plate. Heat up pan on medium heat add each rolled out piece and fry until bubbles appear on top about a minute on each side. Turn over and do the other side. Chapati is ready to serve enjoy !!!!!!
