Ingredients

  1. 1 packagesyellow cake mix (regular size)
  2. 2 can(16 ounces each) chocolate frosting
  3. 19yellow chic peeps candies
  4. 1 1/2 cupsemi-sweet chocolate chips

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare cake according to package directions.

  2. 2

    Using 2 parchment paper lined and greased 9 inch round cake pans, bake cake according to package directions.

  3. 3

    Cool in pans 10 minutes before removing to wire racks.

  4. 4

    Remove parchment paper and cool completely.

  5. 5

    If cake layers have rounded tops, trim with a long serrated knife to make level.

  6. 6

    Spread frosting between layers and over top and up sides of cake.

  7. 7

    For flower petals, arrange peeps around outer edges of cake, curving slightly.

  8. 8

    Try not to separate peeps.

  9. 9

    For sunflower seeds, arrange chocolate chips in the center of the cake.

  10. 10

    * My friend's Mom used to make this for us at Easter time since we both love peeps so much. This recipe came from an old Taste Of Home recipe book.*

Some of my favorite things are family, friends, my pets, cooking, baking, football (Badger & Packer), Brewer baseball, college basketball, car racing, thrift stores, volunteering, and rummage sales. I have a 9 year old rescue dog, and 7 birds ( 6 are rescue) and they range in age from 1 year to over 19 years old. I volunteer for a dog rescue and a shelter, as well as other festivals and organizations.

that is too cute! im in charge for dessert for easter .. i usually do my easter basket cupcakes and something else.. this year im replacing my cupcakes with this cake! i so cant wait for easter! thank u for sharing!
