Mokimo is a traditional kikuyu food, its my best meal.
Cooking Instructions

Peal and boil potatoes until soft.

Add salt and boiled maize and beans then start mashing.

Boil pumpkin leaves and add stir them together until cooked.

Serve with chicken.

Grandma Lela’s cheese pastry bites
This was one of my grandma Lela’s signature everyday treats for us kids.There is nothing healthy about this dish. But these ‘little breads’ - as we call them back home - are wonderfully flakey and crisp, and great even after a few days of sitting out, although they usually do t last that long. They are addictive too - very hard to stop at just a few. We used to sit with a bowl of these in front of tv watching cartoons, eating them like popcorn.Grandma passed away nearly 15 years ago, but in the last few years my mum used her recipe to make these for my niece. We all live in different countries so my mum and my niece see each other only about twice a year. During my Easter visit, my niece asked me if I can please make these for her ‘as grandma does.’ Below is my first attempt.They can be made in any quantity, broadly keeping to 1 : 1 : 1 ratio for flour, butter and cheese. Pumpkin and sesame seeds are my addition to the recipe. Khetapuri with Chicken Tikka
Khetapuri is a very popular streetfood in Dhaka,Bangladesh. Its fried bread or puri stuffed with spicy potato mix. Its similar to aloo puri, but a bit thicker texture and smaller in size. Kheta means a light blanket or quilt in Bangla. The way the potato stuffing is covered with the bread dough, is similar to when you get cozy and cover everything with a blanket. I guess that’s why the name kheta puri. Its eaten on its own and also with chicken tikka. Now this chicken tikka is made differently. Its finely chopped or shredded, then mixed with spices. It’s a very liquidy mix, but with enough binding. Its fried on a a tawa. There’s must be a reason why its called tikka. Because the traditional ones have cubes of meat

One particular kalitsouni and very easy to make is that with tyromalama. Tyromalama, also known as "malaka" is a fresh cheese that is made from pasteurised goat milk. It is a traditional product of Chania and Rethymno and is solely used in cooking. It is an unsalted cheese with a neutral taste and the basic ingredient in the traditional Cretan kalitsounia.
