Welsh Cawl in a Slow Cooker

Ingredients

4-6 servings
  1. Olive oil
  2. 1onion
  3. 4garlic cloves
  4. 5 tbspplain flour
  5. 500 glamb shoulder
  6. 5potatoes
  7. 3leeks
  8. 3carrots
  9. 1/2swede portion
  10. 1bay leaf
  11. 1lamb or vegetable stock cube
  12. 2 tbspWorcester sauce
  13. Salt and pepper
  14. Boiled water
  15. 4-6crusty rolls (to serve)
  16. 100 gcheddar cheese (to serve)

Cooking Instructions

    Add olive oil, onion and garlic to a fry pan and cook for 2-3 minutes.

    Add frying pan contents to slow cooker.

  3. 3

    Season the lamb then coat in plain flour.

  4. 4

    Pan fry the lamb till all sides are nicely brown.

  5. 5

    Add the lamb to the slow cooker.

  6. 6

    Chop potatoes, carrots, swede and leeks (preferably chunky) and add to slow cooker.

    Grind stock cube with fingers and sprinkle in the slow cooker.

  8. 8

    Add boiling water to slow cooker to cover 3/4 of the contents.

  9. 9

    Add bay leaf, Worcester sauce and additional seasoning.

  10. 10

    Stir, turn on high and cook for at least 3 hours, the longer the better.

    Serve with crusty roll and cheddar cheese.

I love to cook but hate to do dishes. Ideal recipes taste delicious, are cooked in one pan and in less than 30 minutes. Although the occassional lengthy recipes for a weekend are lovely too.
