Glazed Ham or Gammon

3 people can have 2 sandwiches each,so about 400g of sliced ham joint each, the Packaging on the front of the meat said that the weight was 1Kg an 200g,so 1.200g,did slice the cold cooked meat with a Bread Knife - could serve the meat with mild Cheddar Cheese and Jacobs Cream Crackers and the condiment of some Apple Sauce from a small glass jar with Lid - sold in Shops.Too use the Syrup sauce is a matter of choice as too spread it on your bread slices with the meat.

As regards the glaze have just realised that maybe I should have only glazed the top of the meat for the last 30 minutes of the cooking time in the oven without the foil on - could have basted the meat in the hot melted butter - before adding the Lyle's Golden Syrup, or runny honey and then the Dijon Mustard - cannot baste once the glaze goes on top. With only 30 minutes to go at Gas Mark 7 in the oven the Dijon Mustard may keep its strong flavour. Is a good idea - you don't want to waste too much of your Syrup and Mustard - just only coat the top.

Are much bigger Ham or Gammon joints, have cooked One just recently, couldn't get crispy crackling in 30 minutes, needed to give it 1 hour at Gas Mark 7 in the oven without the foil on - maybe longer, but, yes ! 4 hours at least instead of 3 hours - for the last 30 minutes of cooking time - glaze the crackling,or maybe better still - glaze only the top of the meat part - can just dispose of the thick fatty part,is nice blended into a soup with quite a bit of the meat - with a vegetable based homemade soup.Score marks are required into the blanched thick layer of Pig fat and Sea Salt rubbed in.Boil for 1 hour and 30 minutes, roast in the oven at Gas Mark 4 with Kitchen Foil over the top - for 1 hour and 30 minutes - and then roast at Gas Mark 7 without the foil on - for at least 1 hour.

He probably didn't roast it in butter and Lyle's Golden Syrup,I didn't have any Vegetable Oil etc. Cooking Oil is needed in the process of getting the fat crispy.Have only ever made 2 Ham Joints in the last 2 months of 2020.

Is good to keep the fat on for the majority of the ham joints' cooking time, but the second process of roasting in the oven, when turned up to Gas Mark 7 when the Kitchen Foil is too be taken off - I think is a good idea to take the fat off for the method of roasting in a liquid sauce - need to stop basting once the Mustard goes on top, could roast for 1 hour without the Kitchen Foil on - Mustard on for the last 30 minutes of roasting time.
