Jamaican Chicken Stew

abbyachie @abbyachie01
cooked it yesterday and it was amazing. I grilled the chicken instead of frying it, just because it's healthier, and also used chicken casserole gravy mix to thicken the gravy. :chef

This is a pretty good recipe, though slightly different from my family's. I will add though, that if you prefer less heat(spice) remove the seeds from the Scotch Bonnet Peppers. You will retain all of the flavor and only about half of the "heat". Also, skip the store bought Chicken seasoning and do it yourself-much less sodium that way.

Made this last night for dinner. It was very good. Didnt have the motivation to find the right hot peppers (don't know where to start looking), so I used jalapeños instead, and it didn't turn out spicy at all. :( I also used two red bell peppers instead of a red and a green. im gonna order some bonnet based hot sauce for next time and use boneless chicken like my boyfriend suggested. I might also add some carrots and celery. :)

I am a Jamaican, don't forget the thyme, we Jamaicans love thyme and make sure that the pepper is scotch bonnet pepper. Love stew chicken

tasty! if you can't find fresh scotch bonnets I would suggest matouk's hot calypso sauce....yum! need 2 full tbsp if not more!

looks very good. I would not advise adding salt with all purpose season all though as that is very salty on its own.

I do mine a little different but tried this. I liked it but not a fan of the green pepper.Think ill stick to my own recipe from my father. Jamaican from England.
