Very bad recipe, do not try as explained as it will not work. Needs 3 times the flour mentioned, NEEDS sugar or it will be extremely bland. Need to almost deep fry in order to cook them...

Sorry to hear it didn't work for you, but 3 times the flour? That means 3/4 cup Glutinous Rice and it can't be right. This is Mochi and Mochi tastes Rice, but this case should taste Sweet Potato. I am wondering what was the cause of the trouble.
