Addressing Donna Quinn who was correcting my spelling: Kraft spells Cheese Whiz with the "h" (not that it matters, really...) Lastly, it is called "Philly Cheese Steak", not "Suburb of Philly Cheese Steak". I just happen to think provolone is tasteless and tried to offer a tastier alternative to anyone not familiar with Philly's style.

It turned out perfect. I added some Italian Seasoning for added flavor. Definately a keeper.

Aces. Not exactly traditional without Wiz, but still great!

Cheese Whiz is strictly a South Philly influenced thing. Lol. In North Philly, Logan, Roxborough, Nicetown, etc we use REAL cheese, American white and not Kraft singles. Donxt get me started on Genos and Pats, two of the most overrated spots ever.
But whether you whiz or not, wit or witout or adhere strictly to your neighborhood code of cheese steak perfection, no one outside of Philly ever gets it right. I try othersx versions out of curiosity. It was nice, but not a proper cheese steak

to the person who says to nix the provolone cheese, I say you must use it. I'm from a suburb of Philadelphia, cheez whiz ?? forget about that ! i believe it's spelled cheez wiz, use provolone, much better !!

Lived in Philly my whole life and have had plenty of cheese steaks and when you go to a real cheese steak place to get a real Philly cheese steak it's whiz wit or whiz witout (onions). No provolone, no peppers, no mushrooms. Cheese, steak, and roll. Period.

I toast the bread a little in the oven, and than put it back in just to melt the cheese, i also add a slice of baby swiss cheese along with the provolone, i don't like cheese whiz on mine, never have, its way to salty for me!!

Cheese wiz is a by product. Too many chemicals and salt. Bad for anyone.

Lived in the suburbs outside of Philly myself. They do use provolone cheese for cheesesteak. Whenever we went into the city melted cheez wiz was the norm there. They are both just as delicious. It's really all about personal preference. I'm in Virginia now and their idea of a cheesesteak includes adding tomato and lettuce! I was SO offended lol
