Me too! I was so pleased that it tasted like the one my husband brought home from Greece! He already asked me to make it again! Thank you for your kind comment!

Wonderful!!!🏆 wonderful result and your explication!!! I tried some pastries with mastika in Turkey but I don’t know the other one flavour … I’ll search info in internet… 😉

Thank you so much! Now that I have tried the recipe more than once, and gotten good successes both times, I am quite confident in its reproducibility. Mahleb is a great flavor, so I hope you get a chance to try it someday!
Thank you again! 😊

Interesting ingredients. I always thought giving someone ground up cherry pits was a way to kill them! 😳

Ah! Interesting observation! Yes - cherry pits contain a compound that is converted to cyanide in the body. But in minute amounts (as found in tsoureki), it’s essentially harmless. I imagine that you’d have to eat multiple loaves of tsoureki at one time to even begin to feel the ill effects of mahleb. And fortunately, such an endeavor is self-limiting. 😁

Oh, man!! He’ll probably love it, then. It’s very much like a flavorful brioche. 😋
