How lovely! We never had anything like this in American schools.

Hi Chris. Haha. It’s dead easy to make and I hope you try it. Whereabouts in America did you live as a child? Did you take a packed lunch to school or did you have a canteen that served your whole lunch on one tray (like in Alcatraz) like we had?

I grew up near Buffalo, New York. I always brought my own lunch to school, but the schools I went to always had a cafeteria. It’s just that the lunches there were either not very appealing or not very healthy.

Oh, and we had plastic trays. Not the metal ones like Alcatraz! LOL

Haha. Alcatraz for me is the best attraction I’ve ever been too, I looooved it and San Fran but I also love NY. Went in the 80s and took my son for his 21st about 5 years ago. We stayed on Manhattan Island and walked our socks off. Defo the best way to see such an amazing city. The folk are incredibly friendly and helpful and made our trip. Have you been across ‘the pond’ and visited anywhere in Europe?

NYC is definitely amazing. I’ve been there a handful of times. It was about an 7 hr drive from where I grew up. I love Alcatraz and San Fran, too! One of my fave cities.
Yeah, I’ve been to Greece, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, and Spain. Loved all of it! (Especially the food!). Haven’t made it to the UK, though. Have you been elsewhere in the US? I’ve been to most of the 50 states (I’ve done a LOT of business travel)

Oh wow you must have a great job. I drove from San Fran to LA and stayed on the Queen Mary (as my dad emigrated to Canada via Ellis Island on it in the 50s) then onto Vegas back in 92. My ex parents-in-law had a holiday home in central Florida for a while so had several trips there. Near the US, my dad took me to Toronto in 84 to visit where he lived and I’ve been to Mexico and the Caribbean a few times. I’ve not always lived in England. I spent 10 years in a tiny country between France, Belgium and Germany called Luxembourg and Spain for 2 years. I can heartily recommend the UK if you like history and the food isn’t as bad as everyone makes out!

My traveling job is long behind me, but it was fun for a while! You’ve traveled a fair bit yourself! I hear Luxembourg is beautiful. Someday, perhaps I can make it to the UK. I have distant relatives in Ireland, so I’d like to visit there as well. Cheers!
