so sorry for responding so late.. ive been away from the app for a while. but it may have been the pan, pound cakes are traditionally baked in loaf pans or bundt pans.

The cake comes out very dense, but very moist. overmixng may be a factor, you want to mix the dry ingredients in just until incorporated.
