Classic Apple Pie

This is a very popular and classic apple pie with a golden, crispy crust and sweet-tart apple filling. It's super delicious when served with custard or ice cream! Pie Crust Method: In a large bowl, mix the flour and sugar. Add the butter (cut into small pieces) and use your hands to crumble the butter into the flour until it forms a grainy texture.

Gradually add water, forming a dough (you may not need all the water; if the dough is too dry, add a little water; if too wet, add some flour). Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for one hour.

Slice the apples thinly, then mix with the remaining filling ingredients.

Divide the dough into two portions and roll out into thin sheets (about 1/8 inch thick). Place one sheet into an 8-inch pie pan.

Pour in the apple filling, spread evenly, then cover with the other pie crust sheet and seal the edges.

Brush the pie crust with egg wash, sprinkle with sugar, and make a few slits on the surface. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 55-60 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the apples are tender (if the surface browns too quickly, cover with aluminum foil to prevent burning).

Let the apple pie cool for at least 30 minutes before serving. *I used an 8-inch pie pan.
