Shahi tukda is scrumptious and luscious sweet prepared from bread. It is type of bread pudding. It is said this dish originated in Mughlai cuisine in the 1600s. It is much similar to the Hydrabadi "Double ka meetha". This rich and royal dessert is served in Royal families after lavish meals.

Shahi tukda is scrumptious and luscious sweet prepared from bread. It is type of bread pudding. It is said this dish originated in Mughlai cuisine in the 1600s. It is much similar to the Hydrabadi "Double ka meetha". This rich and royal dessert is served in Royal families after lavish meals.

Trim the sides of the bread and cut diagonally to make triangles. Dry roast them in a skillet.

Heat one cup water and 3/4 cup sugar in a heavy bottom pan, and add saffron and cardamoms (crushed). Let it boil for 5-7 minutes or till thick sugar syrup is prepared. Turn off the heat and keep it aside.

Also, heat ghee and fry the roasted bread from both sides. Transfer this fried bread to a plate.

Dip the fried bread in prepared sugar syrup, after a couple of minutes, remove them.

At the time of serving arrange the prepared bread on the plate. Top up with rabdi. Sprinkle some khoya. Garnish with almond-pistachio silvers and rose petals.
