📌Traditional Bhoger Khichuri, found in pandals during Durga Puja, is a delicious and aromatic Bengali recipe made without onion and garlic (non-vegetarian - sattvik). It is primarily made using Gobindobhog rice and Sona Moong Dal.
1 📌 It's primarily made in many homes during Durga Puja or other auspicious occasions as an offering to the Goddess. This khichdi typically includes potatoes, cabbage, carrots, peas, tomatoes, and whole spices. I made it in a pressure cooker, like a one-pot meal.

Steps
- 1
In a pan, cook the yellow moong dal over low heat for 3 to 4 minutes. Then add the rice. After it cools, wash it, soak it in water for 20 minutes.
- 2
Place the pressure cooker on low heat, add 1 teaspoon of ghee, fry the cashew pieces and raisins. Transfer to a plate. Add mustard oil, ginger-chili paste, bay leaf, dried red chilies, and cumin seeds and temper it.
- 3
Add the chopped cauliflower, potatoes, carrots, and peas, mixing well. Saute for 1 minute. Add the tomatoes and mix well.
- 4
Add salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander, and cumin powder, and mix all the spices into the curry. Add the soaked lentils and rice, and add hot water as needed. Mix well, cover the pressure cooker, and cook for two to three whistles.
- 5
After the pressure cooker cools, open the lid, sprinkle ghee, Bengali garam masala, and sugar over the prepared khichdi, and mix well.
- 6
Add the ghee-fried cashew pieces and raisins. Add finely chopped coriander leaves.
- 7
Delicious and divine Bengali style Bhogar Khichuri is ready. First offer it to Goddess Durga and then enjoy the Prasad.
