Cooking Instructions

Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water to proof the yeast colonies.

In mixing bowl combine dry ingredients

Blend in oil until light and crumbly.

Knead in yeast proof until smooth or about 8 minutes.

Let rise 1 hour

Punch down and roll out into 2 12x8 inch long rectangles. Roll up firmly like a log from the short end and place seam side down in loaf pan

Bake 375°f for 35 minutes.

I make this bread often to accompany Sunday night dinners. It's very flavorful & comes out a beautiful light red color. You can also trun this into bread rolls by separating the dough & forming into balls after the first rise. Place 2" apart on a greased cookie sheet & let rise again. Somewhat Italian Tomato Bread
I rearranged a recipe to use a bread maker to make 1.5 loaves.Don't slice the bread until it has cooled completely. Use a knife in sawing motions to slice it neatly. It will slice neatly if you wipe the blade clean after each slice. (My co-worker taught me that). Recipe by Ginnane
