This is a fig version of a fruit butter cake that came from my British mother-in-law who makes it with prunes.The original prune version tasted so delicious, so I looked for a good fruit substitute in Japan, and found figs to be the perfect fit!Since fresh fruit is used to bake this cake, it is also delicious on the day it is baked.The cake becomes more moist the next day, adding another level of delight. When my mom had her first taste of dump cake, it was over. She kept making it all throughout my childhood. Now, I make dumpcakes for my adult kids and husband. I've made every flavor I can think of and made one that was 1/2 one flavor & 1/2 another flavor. Even added pineapple chunks (without the juice of course).

Made this few week ago we frozen the slices and had 60g each every Saturday and Sunday with ice cream. This time I used butter instead of margarine and added 1 egg plus used large instead of medium. This cake is soft with crunchy top and sides. And everyone who tried it had it eat whole portion in 1 go as apposed to wanting to save some.

I halved the amount from a pound cake recipe and slightly modified it for this cake's batter.Use lemon chocolate or coating white chocolate if you can find it!Don't over-mix after you add the flour. If you can't get the coating chocolate, you may use white chocolate. This is the recipe of (half) pound cake, since the real pound cake use a pound of flour, sugar, butter and eggs. That's why it's called pound cake! You can also use this cake as a birthday cake by just add butter cream on it. Happy baking!

I found this recipe on Pinterest and I swear by this stuff. There wasn't any amount of cooking spray that I could spray on my pans to get my cakes to release, but you don't have to worry when it comes to this stuff! It doesn't require a lot and it will last a while. I use a rubber basting brush to coat my pans right before adding my cake mixture and putting it in the oven and it works beautifully. I hope you guys love this stuff as much as I do!

This cake is so soft and moist! It's not overly sweet nor is it too sour. I know it looks like cornbread but I assure you it's not ^^
