Mike's Peppered Beef Stew
Well, it was Wednesday in the O'Brien Shire & those of you in the know - knows what that means. "Its clean out the crispers, freezers and rotate the pantries time!" With that, my 6 and 7 year old students can make anything their crazy little hearts desire. Today, rainy and windy as it is, they chose a tummy soothing peppered stew. Delicious work kiddos and great shortcuts! You know me well! I'm all about the shortcuts!

Goat stew in tomato sauce
Kalderetang Kambing is stewed goat meat in spicy tomato and liver sauce. Kaldereta or caldereta is also a method of cooking which means to stew meat in a large cauldron (caldera in Spanish) or pot. The dish is believed to have originated from Ilocos, a province in the Northern Philippines where dishes made with goat (kalding in Ilocano dialect) meat are widely prepared.

Vegetable Stew
I used my left over vegetables . One egg plant was gone half bad, used my frozen tomatoes , and add a can of black beans. You can use any can of legumes ( chickpeas , white beans, but lentils would not be a good idea, )if you don’t want to use oven you can use same pot to cook if you are too lazy or have no time. . I think putting then to oven make taste better.

Robin's Easy Beef Stew
I love beef stew but never made it. Got some tips from my mum and just went for it. It turned out really good even though I got to talking and cooked the beef a little too long. Was done and eating it within an hour of starting to cook it. Looking forward to trying it again with addition vegetables.

Bigos (Hunters Stew) for Slowcooker
15min prep/6h cook.Learned first hand from my late polish grandmother. I grew up with this and made sure I recreated this dish as accurately as possible. She didn't have a slow cooker so I sacrilegiously feel like the taste is even improved by reducing the temperature and increasing the time. Originally this was made in a pressure cooker. This recipe will give you a lot of umaminous stew which freezes beautifully and is easily reheated in a microwave. Keeps for a week in the fridge and tastes great even cold with a slice of sourdough bread or a side of simple mash potatoes. Without a side it's relatively low carb. Kids love it. Great for parties. Polish peoe will be impressed.
