Sultana Scones

It's the cream tea fever calling out. Now is it going to be the Conish or the Devonshire cream tea? I mean cream then jam or jam then cream, for me so long it's a dream cream tea party, I'm happy. Happy baking all.

It's the cream tea fever calling out. Now is it going to be the Conish or the Devonshire cream tea? I mean cream then jam or jam then cream, for me so long it's a dream cream tea party, I'm happy. Happy baking all.
Steps
- 1
Put the flour in a large mixing bowl, add salt and baking powder. Give all a good mix
- 2
Add the butter cubes. Using your finger tips rub the butter into the flour mix until it resembles bread crumbs
- 3
Add the sugar in the mixture. And the chopped raisin and cherries
- 4
Make a well add half of the milk. Using a spoon or a knife fold the milk into the dry mixture.
- 5
Add rest of milk to the flour. Continue to mix all together. The mixture dough will seem a little wet. Dust with a little flour
- 6
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface.
- 7
I don't tend to use a rolling pin, I just pat the dough lightly to flatten it to about 1inch thick.
- 8
Using a cookie cutter cut into shape.
- 9
Using a spatula gently place the scones on the prepared tray.
- 10
Glaze the scones with milk using a pastry brush.
- 11
Bake in the preheated oven until golden and well risen.
- 12
Enjoy with clotted cream and jam of your choice
