After rinsing your potato under running water until clean, wrap a large Maris piper (ideally) potato in foil - bare, with nothing on the potato and no need to prick with a fork. Bake in the oven for 1 -2 hours at 200 degrees C/400 degrees F, which is a moderately hot oven, time will depend on the size of your potato. Keep checking if you are not sure the first time.

When soft...push a sharp knife through the foil to test...remove from the oven and discard the foil.

Spray the baked potato all over with coconut oil (you can use other types of spray oil or rub with oil from a jar) The more oil you use the crisper the finished potato will be. A lit spraying will give you a lovely crisp outside jacket.

Pop back in the oven for 15 - 20 minutes, again depending on how crispy you like your baked potatoes.

Cut open, add butter and salt and pepper (white pepper is particularly tasty with potatoes) to your delicious baked potato.
