Take 1-cup sugar, 3 green cardamom pods, 1½ cups water and 1-2 drops of lemon juice in a deep pot or pan. Lemon juice is added to prevent syrup from solidifying when it cools.

In a bowl add khoya, flour, semolina, baking powder and cardamom powder. Mix all these ingredients well.

Shift the mixture onto the rolling mat and knead with your palm.
Add lukewarm milk to knead smooth and soft dough if required.
Divide the dough into two halves and then further into ten equal and make small balls. - 4
Heat oil in a pan, over medium flame. Add prepared dough balls and fry them over low to medium heat for 6 to 7 minutes or until light golden brown.

Add fried balls into warm sugar syrup (not hot syrup) otherwise they’ll shrink.
Soak them for at least one hour. Serve hot or cold.
