Ingredients

  1. 2Medium sized Onions chopped
  2. 1Medium sized Tomato chopped
  3. FewCurry leaves
  4. fewCoriander leaves
  5. 3Dry Red Chillies
  6. 1 TbspRoasted ChanaDal
  7. 1/4Lemon size Tamarind
  8. 1 1/2 TbspOil
  9. as per taste Salt
  10. as requiredWater
  11. Fortempering:
  12. 1/2 TbspOil (You can also use Coconut Oil)
  13. 1/2 tspMustard seeds
  14. fewCurry leaves

Steps

  1. 1

    Place a saute pan in the stove. Turn on the flame and add oil.

  2. 2

    Once the oil gets heat, keep the flame in medium. Add dry red chillies fry for a minute. Then add onions, tomatoes, curry leaves, coriander leaves few, tamarind, roasted chanadal and required salt.

  3. 3

    Saute and cook for 15 mins on medium flame.

  4. 4

    Add the mixture in a mixer and blend till it forms a smooth paste by adding water gradually. Transfer to a bowl.

  5. 5

    Tempering is optional. If needed add the ingredients given for tempering and add to the Chutney.

  6. 6

    Now it's ready to serve with idlis and dosas.
