Fruit Zobo (Hibiscus Drink)
My mom taught me how to make it and now I cannot stop making it.
Steps
- 1
Wash your hibiscus leaves and remove any dirt and pour in a pot. Add in your hot water to the leaves. Throw in your sliced ginger and squeeze the lime juice in and throw the lime in and cover the pot and let sit for like 4 hours
- 2
While you are waiting, get started on the fruits. Start by washing and cutting them up.
- 3
Tip: leave small remenants of the back of the watermelon and blend first with water and liquid soap to remove any peppery taste from the blender. Then Wash and blend the fruits.
- 4
After blending, use a cloth sieve to separate the particles from the fruit juice. Then keep in the refrigerator until it’s time to use
- 5
After 4 hours, your zobo should be ready to be made. Sieve the hibiscus leaves from the water and immediately add your sugar, to your taste, while the water is still warm. It dissolves faster. And let sit to cool. You could add a block of ice to cool it faster.
- 6
Then add your fruit juice and flavors and stir till they are all incorporated. Then use the sieve cloth to sieve the zobo again, just to remove any unwanted particles.
- 7
Pour your zobo in a jar/jug and refrigerate until use.
