Besan ki Muthiya

Muthiyas are steamed or fried or boiled dumplings made from chickpea flour and is a perfect tea time snack. There are various ways of making muthiya. Here I am making very simple and easy chickpea flour dumpling, boiled and than shallow fried.

In a mixing bowl take gram flour (besan), add salt, baking soda,salt,turmeric powder, fennel seeds, carrom seeds and oil. And knead a soft dough using little water at a time.

Now divide the dough in three equal portions. Roll them in cylinders. Now boil the water in a wok. Add this cylinders when it comes to boil. Cylinders will soon start to float means they have cooked properly, insert a knife should come out clean.

Now strain the muthiyas and cut into the desired shape. Temper with hot oil and mustard seeds and here you go with a cup of tea.
