Kathiyawadi Mirchi is a famous delicacy of Gujrat it's famous for it's unique taste and flavours. Bharwa Mirchi goes best with Plain Dal Rice but it can also act as an substitute for Sabzi. Bharwa Mirchi can be made with several fillings but in this recipe I have made it with Gram Flour. This mirchi is called Bhavnagri Mirchi and is easily available at local Vegetable Vendor Shop. Firstly, wash and dry Bhavnagri Mirchi and keep aside

In a pan heat 1 tsp of oil, add cumin seeds, let it crackle and add Asafoetida, fry for a minute and add half cup besan

Keep roasting the besan on low flame till a nice Aroma comes and besan turns light golden brown

Switch off the flame and take out the roasted besan in a plate.

Add in roasted besan, red chili powder, turmeric powder, Coarsely Grinded Fennel powder, coriander powder, Aamchur Powder, salt and 1 tbsp oil. Mix well with the help of your hands. Filling for mirchi is ready.

Now put vertical slits on mirchi and with help of a small spoon take out all the seeds from the mirchi and make it hollow for filling Masala.

Now start filling the masala in all Mirchis. Stuff it properly and keep them ready for shallow frying

Heat around 2 tbsp of oil in a non-stick pan. Start adding all the mirchis one by one in oil. Keep the flame low and cover the Mirchis with a lid. Add some water over the lid so that Mirchis will not burn from below and it will be cooked properly.

Now remove the lid and flip the mirchis so that they can be cooked from other sides. Keep flipping on regular intervals to ensure that Mirchis are cooked from all sides. Now sprinkle leftover roasted gram flour masala over the mirchis and around 1tbsp of water. Cover and cook for 2 mins.

Switch off the flame and Bharwa Mirchi are ready to serve.
