Ingredients

3 dozens
  • 1 cupunsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cupgrinder sugar (powdered sugar/icing sugar)
  • 1egg room temperature, lightly beaten
  • 11/2 teaspoonbaking powder
  • 4 tablespooncustard powder
  • Few drops of yellow food coloring (optional)
  • 2 cupsall-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoonsemolina/fine sooji
  • 1 tablespoonvanilla extract/ essence
  • 1/2 teaspoonsalt

Steps

  1. 1

    Mix all dry ingredients together, flour, custard powder, semolina, salt and baking powder in a bowl and set it aside

  2. 2

    In a separate bowl cream the butter and sugar, add yellow food coloring

    Add eggs and vanilla and mix until fluffy

    Careful add the dry ingredients and mix until the dough comes together. Do not over mix it will be crumbly

    Divide the dough into 3 balls and roll the dough as shown below. Wrap the dough with a cling film and refrigerate for about an hour.

    After chilling, Cut into pieces or make shapes as shown below

    Place on a grease paper on a baking try and bake in a preheated oven at 180C for 20mins

  8. 8

    Let them cool on a cooling rack.

    Serve with a warm cup of tea ☕️
