Steps

Gently fry the onions in the oil in a pan large enough to hold the tomatoes and water.

When the onions are soft, add the chopped tomatoes. Gently stir.

Add the italian herbs. Stir.

Add the water.

Simmer about 20 minutes to thicken the sauce. Stir about every 5 minutes to make sure it does not stick to the bottom of the pan, or burn.

When the sauce is reduced to how you like it, add a little black pepper and salt if you like.

Serve with pasta or with whatever you need a nice italian sauce for.
