Mavinakayi Chitranna (Raw mango rice)

Chitranna is a South Indian delicacy. Chitranna is a Karnataka delicacy which is prepared from leftover rice with a hint of tanginess and light spices I.e. lemon rice which we all knew about. Here, raw mangoes are used instead of lemon. In Andhra Pradesh, grated coconut is also added. Raw mango rice is also known as Mavinakayi Chitranna and Mamidikaya pulihora.
This simple and quick recipe is ideal for breakfast.

Steps

Heat oil, add mustard seeds, once they splutter add both dals and peanuts and lastly add curry leaves and green chillies.

Saute it for 1-2 minutes, than add grated mango, turmeric powder and mix well. Saute it till it becomes soft. Add half of coariander.

Now add rice and salt to taste. Mix very carefully otherwise rice may break. Garnish with coriander.

Serve hot.
