This mathri is a baked variant of the traditional one. I replaced the refined flour with whole wheat flour and besan & incorporated some dry Kasuri methi and carrom seeds. I like them super crisp so I baked them a little longer.

This healthier version of the traditional mathri is easy to make and best enjoyed with tea! Do try it once.

Happy Cooking and keep sharing food love!

Steps

1 hour
  1. 1

Serve and mix both the flour in a bowl. Add salt, carrom seeds, Kasuri methi, and baking powder.

  2. 2

Heat oil and let it cool. Add this oil to the bowl and mix well. The mixture should look crumbly.

  3. 3

Now add ¼ cup water and knead a hard dough. Cover and let it rest for 20 min.

  4. 4

Divide the dough in 4 equal portions.

  5. 5

Roll the ball into a thick chapati and cut into the desire shape. I cut it into squares. You can even use a cookie-cutter.Pork the mathri with the fork so that they don't rise much while baking.

  6. 6

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Now bake these mathri for nearly 20 -25 min flipping in between at least once.

  7. 7

I baked them really crisp. Enjoy with evening tea.

Food is not simply stuff that people eat when they are hungry. Food is awesome, delicious, inventive, colorful, inspiring, and so much more. Food binds us together. You have no idea how much it means to me when you tell me that you made a recipe and loved it. My heart fills with joy. Literally.
