Ingredients

  1. 4Idaho potatoes, 1/2 pound each, about 25 cents a piece
  2. 1 poundLard, $2, of which 95% is filtered afterwards and can be reused, 10 cents per dinner for two

Cooking Instructions

    Soak potatoes in cold water, scrub

    Cut potato in half

  3. 3

    Cut halves in half

  4. 4

    Slice in half lenghtwise, and slice in half again

  5. 5

    Your french fries are now serving size, half inch square

  6. 6

    Put in collander, rinse with boiling water to get the starch out, dry on towel

  7. 7

    Melt lard to 373 degrees on medium heat, in wok

  8. 8

    Smoke point of lard is 375 F, drop fries in when 370F to keep from smoking

    One potato, five minutes

  10. 10

    Drain on paper towel. Taste. Add salt if desired.

    Two potatoes, frying time is double

    Ten minutes for two potatoes

    Fliter lard through paper towel into metal can

  14. 14

    Save in fridge, I used one tablespoon lard to make this dinner, rest can be reused.
