Ingredients

15 minutes
4 servings
  • 500 gmbasa fillets cut into small pieces
  • 1onion sliced
  • 7-8garlic pod
  • 3-4dry red chilli
  • 1 tbspwhole black pepper
  • 1 tbspcoriander seed
  • 1/4 cupfresh coconut sliced
  • 1 tspcumin seed
  • 2green chilli slitted
  • 1 tsptemerind paste
  • 1/2 TSPturmeric powder
  • as per tasteSalt

Steps

15 minutes

    Marinate the basa pieces with salt and turmeric powder for 10 minutes.

    In a blender jar add coconut, red chilli, black pepper, coriander seed, cumin seed, garlic and temerind. Blend and make a fine paste.

    Now heat a pan. Pour the grounded paste,salt, turmeric powder. Add some water and boil for 5-6 minutes.

    Add fish pieces, cover it and cook for 10 minutes on medium flame.

    When the gravy become thick then switch off the flame. Pour the curry in a bowl garnish with green chilli. Serve it with steamed rice.

This is an excellent recipe. I found it in a recipe search a few years ago and memorised it. I cook it regularly with frozen basa, and sometimes with fresh basa which you can get at Asda in the UK. I refer to it as the easiest curry in the book. Thank you Mrs. Tanushri Paul.
