Kabocha Squash Dumplings (Halloween Version)

My mum used to make these for me. Since Halloween is coming up, I uploaded the recipe.

If you're going to use the peel to decorate the dumplings, I recommend peeling whilst the kabocha squash is still raw as it won't break apart so easily. When putting the mixture in the moulds or making the faces, flatten the surface to get an even bake. I made the sauce on the sweeter side and used it to decorate the plate. Recipe by yukasuke39

  2. 2

Whilst the kabocha is still warm, mash and combine it well with the katakuriko.

  3. 3

Cut the kabocha squash peel into the shapes you want for decoration and microwave for 30 seconds.

  4. 4

Press the kabocha squash into oval shapes and use a spoon to engrave lines on the surface. Press the peel on the kabocha to make the Jack-O'-Lantern face. Lightly oil a frying pan and cook both sides of the Jack-O'-Lantern through.

  5. 5

Mix the sauce and serve with the cooked kabocha squash patties, and they're done.
