Tomato Rasam

Tomato Rasam is tangy and aromatic South Indian Rasam recipe made with ripe tomatoes. This aromatic rasam is not only easy to make but also a delicious and comforting dish.
Tomatoes are puréed and cooked with seasoning of mustard, jeera, garlic, green chili and curry leaves. I have used MTR Rasam powder which can also be replaced with pepper-jeera powder grinder at home in equal quantity. Finally garnished with fresh coriander leaves.
This is quick fix Rasam recipe that can be made in minutes when you are hungry and enjoyed with hot steamed rice and papad.

In a mixer jar take roughly chopped tomatoes and grind to a fine paste. Keep aside.

In a pan, heat oil and add in mustard and jeera. Let it splutter and add in garlic cloves, slit green chili, curry leaves, red chili, hing and sauté for few seconds. Add in turmeric powder and mix.

Add in tomato purée along with 2 cups water. Add in salt and MTR rasam powder. Stir and let it come to boil.

Boil it for 2 minutes and switch off the flame. Finally garnish with coriander leaves.

Hot & Tangy Tomato Rasam is ready to be served with steamed rice.
