Ingredients

  1. 250 gor less fresh anchovies
  2. as neededGarlic salt,
  3. 3-4 TbspOlive oil
  4. DashSalt
  5. as neededPepper,
  6. Few drops soy seasoning
  7. Optional: Tbsp brown sugar
  8. as neededOptional: chili powder,

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Wash anchovies and drain

  2. 2

Sprinkle salt, pepper and garlic powder or garlic salt and mix gently with your hand. Add a few drops soy seasoning - knorr or maggi.

  3. 3

Heat oil in pan. Drop in half of the seasoned anchovies and cover. Cook in low-medium heat. Leave it be. The water from the fish will come out then evaporate. And then it will cook in the oil.

  4. 4

When you hear popping, lower heat, continue cooking. When you start smelling the aroma, check if browned (on one side) and flip. Add a bit more oil if needed.

  5. 5

    Remove when both sides browned.

Optional: Sprinkle brown sugar on the anchovies before removing from pan, and mix gently.

Or: If you want, you can make a glaze first then add back the anchovies. Mix until melted sugar crystalizes.

Optional: sprinkle chili powder for some heat. :)

Serve as appetizer or as side dish.
