In a vessel put cooked rice. Add water nicely covering it. Place a lid and keep it aside overnight.

Next day, into the rice, add curd, salt and some more chilled water. Mix well. Add lemon juice as per your taste. Mix well and keep aside.

Now prepare for tempering.
Heat oil. Splutter rye, cumin seeds. Switch off the heat. Add dry red chillies and curry leaves.
Add the tempering into the rice. Mix gently.
Instead of dry red chillies you can use fresh green chillies. - 4
Chunka Pakhala is ready!!
