Kokum or Mangosteen Rind Tea

Mangosteen is known by many names in India owing to it's different languages and regions. Kokum is one such name given to it and used extensively in Maharashtra and Gujarat.
There are umpteen medicinal benefits of this. It's an excellent one for digestion. Though it's nature is hot, it benefits the body when consumed due to a component called Garcinol being present in it. It's used in beverages, Sherbets, Curries and Candies. It's similar to that of Tamarind and hence used in cooking by many traditionally. Also it can be used in any Season without any hassles as it is absolutely beneficial. Therefore Sun dried rinds can be stored for over a Year and used accordingly.
Care should be taken to avoid it for at least an hour if Milk has been consumed because it's sour and can negatively affect the gut.
This should be definitely kept in mind. Other than this, it's absolutely safe for all. People with high Blood pressure should stay away from it.
It's excellent for weight loss because it's low in fats and rich in soluble Fiber. It has Vitamins like A, B3 and B12 apart from elements like Iron, Magnesium, Manganese and Potassium as well.
A very good alternative to good health.

Bring water to a rolling boil on a high heat at first. After it starts boiling vigorously, add the mangosteen rinds to it. Let it simmer for the next 4-5 minutes.

Take it off the heat now. Cover and let it steep for the next 5 minutes.

After the stipulated time, add honey to the serving cups and strain it directly into them one by one. Honey can be increased as well accordingly. It's absolutely your choice.
