Shaved Ice with Coffee Jelly

めみたん☆
めみたん☆ @cook_40100837

Add coffee jelly to your favorite shaved ice for a smooth and delicious treat—perfect as a cool summer dessert!
*If you don't have a shaved ice machine, see steps 8 and 9.

Recipe background:
I came up with this recipe after buying a shaved ice machine this year. Inspired by "Akafuku Ice" (shaved ice topped with mochi and sweet red bean paste), I wanted to try adding a topping with texture. I love coffee jelly, and when I tried it, I found it didn't overpower the flavor of the ice and tasted great!

Steps

  1. 1

I used store-bought coffee jelly, but homemade coffee jelly works just as well.

  2. 2

Cut or mix the coffee jelly with a spoon to your preferred texture. If using a whole cup, place half of the coffee jelly at the bottom.

  3. 3

Add your favorite shaved ice on top, then pour syrup over it. (The photo shows coffee-flavored shaved ice from tokotann, Recipe ID: 18203591 on cookpad.com)

  4. 4

Top with the remaining half of the coffee jelly, and it's ready to enjoy!

This also works great with sunlight's "Coffee-Flavored Shaved Ice" (Recipe ID: 18616321 on cookpad.com), which inspired me to buy a shaved ice machine.

It's also delicious with puni K's "Best Combination Shaved Ice" (Recipe ID: 19558224 on cookpad.com), which uses matcha and sweet red bean paste.

  7. 7

If you don't have a shaved ice machine, you can make shaved ice by scraping frozen juice with a fork, as in "Shaved Ice with Condensed Milk" (Recipe ID: 19300585 on cookpad.com).

  8. 8

You can also use store-bought shaved ice treats. (Photo used with permission.)
