Less Calories and Less Washing! Baked Tonkatsu

cookpad.japan
cookpad.japan @cookpad_jp

I wanted to lose weight, but I didn't want to go on a restrictive diet and wanted to still enjoy eating through the process.
I made this recipe taking these things into consideration and now I can eat the same meal as my family.
However, be careful not to overeat!

Thinly coating with flour is best and it's not good with too much or too little flour. Same with the mayonnaise.

Brushing oil just before baking is optional. Without oil, the meat still becomes crispy as it has mayonnaise already. For 3 - 4 servings. Recipe by tabubun

Steps

  1. 1

Roast the panko in a frying pan until golden brown - do not burn. Cool down in the pan.

  3. 3

Put the white flour and pork slices into a thick plastic bag. Let in a little air, then close and shake well to coat the pork with the flour evenly.

Check inside and if the slices of pork are stuck together, separate them and coat with flour.

Once you have coated the pork slices, move them to the edge of the pan to reduce washing.

  8. 8

Place the pork slices on a baking tray. I sliced small new potatoes in half and added them to the dish this time.

  9. 9

The mayonnaise in the coating works like oil. It'll bake crispy. If you want it extra crisp, brush oil on the surface of the meat.

  10. 10

Place on the top rack of the ovenand bake without preheating for 15-20 minutes at 570°F/300°C. Adjust the time depending on doneness.
